Participant's manaul:

I. REGISTRATION

1、All delegates are to register for this symposium using the registration form at Annex B. All completed registration forms are to reach the Secretariat (Attn: Ms XU Meng at Email: xumeng@ec.com.cn or Fax: +86 10 6780 0327) by 30 Jul 2007.

2、The Registration Desk will operate at Beijing Jinjiang Fuyuan Hotel, from Monday 13th August to Tuesday 14th August as follows:
  Monday 13th August, 2007    0830 hours - 1800 hours
  Tuesday 14th August, 2007    0830 hours - 1200 hours
3、All delegates are to collect their ID badges at the Registration Desk. They will be required to present their identification when collecting the ID Badges. The ID badges SHOULD BE WORN AT ALL TIMES during the symposium and will be required for entry into the venue.

II. EXPENSES AND ALLOWANCE

Delegates from all APEC member economies are welcome to participate in the symposium.
APEC funding for round trip economy class airfare and per diem covering accommodation, meals and all other incidental expenses are being offered for two active-participants from travel-eligible economies. Travel-eligible economies include Chile, People Republic of China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, the Russian Federation,Thailand and Viet Nam.
Detailed agreements for reimbursement shall be stipulated before arrival. Per Diem is paid from the arrival day till the last day of official duty. There will also be an additional payment incorporated under per diem for lecturers. This additional payment element is meant to cover such items as visa fees, travel insurance, bank and currency charges (and other expenses related to reimbursement), and transport to and from airport.
Speakers and active Participants who are confirmed funded by APEC, must submit their best Airfare Quotation and Detailed Travel Itinerary from a Travel Agent (clearly indicating the airfare, taxes, currency, flight duration of each sectors, travel class, arrival & departure dates & times, etc.) to the APEC Secretariat directly (by Email: dh@apec.org or Fax: (65) 6775-6012, Attention: Ms. Daphne Ho) (cc: wangli@ec.com.cn ) for approval without delay to avoid higher airfares, etc. (before purchase of air tickets) Once approval has been given, the traveler should immediately purchase the ticket at the approved rate. Their airfares should be for the MOST DIRECT (nonstop flights) & Economical route, excluding Travel Insurance, must be a RESTRICTED/discounted ticket). Participants from the same city of residence should have similar airfares.

III. ACCOMODATION AND MEALS

Beijing Jinjiang Fuyuan Hotel is the designated hotel for 2007 APEC Paperless Trading Capacity Building and IP Protection. Working Lunch will be provided free of charge by the organizing committee of the symposium on August 14th -16th , 2007 in Rose Cafe, the ground floor of Beijing Jinjiang Fuyuan Hotel. Except above arrangements, for other meals, delegates are expected to make your self-arrangements.

IV. ARRIVALS AND ENTRY FORMALITIES

1、All delegates are required to possess a valid passport or applicable travel document with valid visas or entry permits to enter into China.
2、In line with bilateral arrangements, the visa requirement has been waived for delegates who possess diplomatic or official passport from the following economies: Chile, Mexico, Peru, Russia, Thailand, and Viet Nam.

V. GROUND TRANSPORTATION

Beijing Jinjiang Fuyuan Hotel is located in the Beijing Economy & Technology Development Area, an approximately 30-minute shuttle ride either way from the Beijing Capital International Airport or from downtown Beijing.
Taxi will be available at the Beijing airport for transportation to the hotel. The taxi fee is approximately RMB 160 (US$20).

VI. DRESS CODE

Delegates are advised to be formally attired, especially at the Opening Ceremony.

VII. BUSINESS SERVICE

During the symposium, free wireless Internet access service will be provided in the 1st and 3rd floor of Beijing Jinjiang Fuyuan Hotel. (Laptop computer with Centurion CPU or CPU above Pentium III, Windows 2000 or Windows XP operating system and WiFi/802.11a/b/g wireless network adapter required).
Hotel rooms are installed with high speed LAN Interface and multimedia computer, and the Internet access is free of charge.
Business Center, located in the 1st floor of the hotel, will provide various services including faxing, printing, etc. for extra costs.

VIII. WORKING LANGUAGE

The working language of the symposium is English. However, simultaneous Chinese interpretation will be provided during the symposium.

IX. RECREATIONAL FACILITIES

Recreational facilities including international standard swimming pool, 8 lanes bowling, dancing hall, billiard room, tennis, health center, movies hall with the capacity of 34 persons, which could provide a relaxant environment, will be available at your own expense.

Beijing

Beijing Jinjiang Fuyuan Hotel is located in the Beijing Economy & Technology Development Area, an approximately 30-minute shuttle ride either way from the Beijing Capital International Airport or from downtown Beijing.
Beijing, the capital of the People's Republic of China, is the center of the nation's politics, culture and international exchanges and a modern metropolis full of vitality. The history of Beijing as a city may be traced back to about 3000 years ago. A long history has left numerous famous historical sites which possess great aesthetic and cultural valleys. The Great Wall, a huge project begun more than 2000 years ago, meanders through mountains and valleys for hundreds of kilometers in the region of Beijing. The impressive Yongle Bell weighs 46.5 tons and shows the exquisite casting technology of ancient China. The Forbidden City, the largest ancient architectural complex in existence today, is splendid example of ancient Chinese architectural art.
Climate
Beijing has a continental climate. Annual rainfall averages nearly 700 millimeters, most of which comes in July and August. Winter is dry and has little snow. The frost-free period is 185 days.
The average temperature in August ranges from 25°C to 27°C.
Currency The official currency in China is the Renminbi (RMB) available in denominations of ¥100,¥50, ¥20,¥10,¥5 and ¥1 notes, and ¥1 and¥0.5 coins.
Most international currencies and travelers' checks can be exchanged into RMB at commercial banks, hotels and international airports. Credit cards are accepted in many hotels, restaurants and major shops.
No restrictions are imposed on the amount of foreign currency, travelers' checks, or credit cards to be brought into China. However, non-residents carrying more than 5,000 US dollars or the equivalent in cash should declare it to Chinese Customs.
Electricity Supply
The power supply in China is 220 - 240 volts, 50 hertz. Hotels provide 110 or 220 - volt sockets for electric razors only.
Time
Beijing Standard Time is 8 hours ahead of GMT.
Business Hours Government official working hours are from 08:00 a.m. to 17:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Most stores and private businesses open from 8:30 a.m. to 21:00 p.m.. Banking hours are from 09:00 a.m. to 16:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
